Health & Safety
Health and Safety is a Major part of all construction projects for Eric Bradley Construction, employing a full time Health and Safety Officer to ensure compliance with all relevant Legislation and Statutory Regulations.
We have within the past year had our Health and Safety Systems assessed by both The Contractors Health and Safety Scheme (CHAS) and Constructionline and obtained certificates for both at the first attempt.
We can offer the service of acting as CDM Co-ordinator which will give peace of mind to clients helping them ensure compliance with the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007.
All site Managers/Supervisors undertake specific training courses to allow them to undertake their role with safety in mind at all times including Site Managers’ Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), Scaffold inspection, PASMA tower scaffold erection and inspection, First Aid at work (4 day), Asbestos awareness, NVQ 4 site Management, NVQ 3 Site Supervision.
All new construction sites are assessed prior to any construction works commencing which allows construction phase health and safety plans to be produced and site specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements to be formulated.
The Health and Safety Officer attends site on a regular basis to undertake an audit of site safety, findings of audit are recorded and presented to all appropriate persons. This ensures any likely concerns are highlighted.
EBC employ the latest in technology to allow safer working for example:
- Cable avoidance tools (CAT detectors) which assist in the accurate locating of linear metallic objects, power cables, telephone lines, gas pipes, petroleum pipes. This technology also allows for the locating of Fibre optic cables and empty ducting, drains etc.
- Fall prevention equipment to facilitate safe working at height, including temporary re-useable lifelines to allow for safe systems of work to be adopted in complex situations.
- Modern personnel protective equipment including specialist gas detectors provide safe access into confined spaces.
- Newly installed state of the art extraction systems provide a dust free environment in the Steel & Joinery workshops.
EBC have a continued programme of Environmental improvement and waste is, where possible, recycled/re used. All waste is removed from site to specialist Waste Transfer Stations where it can be sorted further, reducing the amount taken to landfill. Modern materials are also used which are sourced from recycled/ sustainable providers. EBC also operates an innovative scheme for the transportation of operatives from home to their place of work, the company provides a fleet of minibuses which are used to pick up the majority of the workforce at central locations throughout the region thereby reducing the amount of vehicle movements.
All of the above contribute to a positive culture within the organisation for both Health and Safety and the Environment.
Designers and Clients can be confident that EBC provide a comprehensive knowledge base for all health, safety and environmental matters, giving clients peace of mind and designers the knowledge that, when appointed, EBC will provide a safe, professional team.
